Recharged by the Earth

A few months ago, we visited a small homestay in the Mangaon area. It was a much-needed escape from city. The pollution, bustling crowds, dust, and noise were suffocating, and I just needed to get away. We spent only one and a half days there, but I came back feeling rejuvenated. I owe it all to one thing— nature. The power of nature on the body and mind never ceases to amaze me. Let me take you through a short morning walk of no more than 3-4 km, and show how it distracted my mind and stimulated all my senses. Below are a set of photos that give you but a glimpse of all the things we witnessed in just an hour.

Dew drops on a leaf sparkled like diamonds
A bullfrog had blended so well with the forest floor; it was surprising how we even spotted it.
A colony of weaver bird nests sighted in a tree close to the road. They swayed with the gentle breeze and it seemed that the nests were abandoned. But then this golden fellow turned up next to it.
Morning is a great time to hear the birds sing and chirp. This Malabar Lark singing from a rock filled the air with music, keeping us tuned into the peaceful sounds of nature.
What seemed like a white speckled rock was actually a sight of thousands of ants carrying white petals in unison. It was a mesmerizing dance of nature and their movements had a psychedelic effect on us!
The bugs on the flower, our moving shadows, and the rich leaf patterns around us formed an ever-changing mosaic that kept our eyes darting, immersed in the colourful world of nature.
Dew drops captured on a funnel web spider’s web looked like a diamond shaped heart from afar.
The skink, basking motionless in the morning sun, reminded me of nature’s patience and the art of stillness, and both me and skink seemed to stare into oblivion so as to strive and achieve a moment of warm serenity.
The road was alive with hundreds of millipedes, wriggling and displaying a rhythm of sorts. Close by, the edge of the pond was bordered by tree roots curled like worms, and bright bugs clung to the plants, adding vibrant hues to the rural landscape.
Red mushrooms sprouting from the ground was an unusual burst of colour against the damp and dull earth; its vibrant hue and unique shape drawing my eyes in, making it hard to look away.

My morning walk was truly rejuvenating, offering a much-needed break from the everyday city hustle. Nature provided me with a sense of peace and clarity, stimulating both my mind and body in just a short time. I felt refreshed, grounded, and more connected to everything around me. There’s so much to observe, learn, and appreciate in nature— as I mentioned nature never ceases to amaze me.

Why don’t you try it out too? Take a walk and let nature work its magic on you too!
